We are uncompromising about the standards we expect from our tutors. All of our tutors have extensive teaching experience and a strong track record of helping students reach their academic potential.

Our tutor recruitment process

Our recruitment process is rigorous:

1. Initial Conversation

Screening Interview To Select Applicants Who Satisfy Our Core Criteria, Including A Clear Track Record Of Helping Students Achieve Their Objectives.

2. In-Depth Face-To-Face Interview

Exploration of depth and breadth of subject knowledge and curriculum understanding. We look carefully at attitudes and personality, and how the applicant might engage with students of different ages and abilities.

3. Key Background Checks

Enhanced DBS, academic qualifications and references.

What we look for in a tutor

We have specific criteria when talking with applicants for tutoring positions.

Qualifications and experience

  • Tutors will have attended a distinguished university and many also hold postgraduate qualifications
  • We require substantial teaching experience and a deep understanding of the curriculum
  • We expect a proven track record of helping students achieve academic objectives

Approach to tutoring

We expect our tutors to:
  • Enjoy helping students make progress and reach their potential
  • Be enthusiastic and able to engage with young people
  • Be adept at creating relaxed, interactive learning environments
  • Be able to adapt content and style to the individual student
  • Be patient and encouraging
3. Key Background Checks

Enhanced DBS, academic qualifications and references.

What they need to provide

All tutors are required to provide the following:
  • Proof of identity
  • Impressive current CV
  • Certificates of academic qualification
  • An enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check certificate, ensuring they are appropriate to work with children
  • At least two referees who provide independent views of experience, track record and character
